Meet Ahmed

The Artist

Ahmed is a kind, humble man who works in an association for the blind inside the old Medina of Chefchouen. They make blankets, curtains, pillow cases, and traditional jellabas and dresses. Ahmed started this association to train other blind men and women to do similar work, giving them a ability to work and enjoy it.

The History

Ahmed moved to Chaouenin 2005 and began this “Hiyaka” project. As he learned to better his trade and and the association came together, he he felt as if he was not blind, but that he could do anything.

The PLace

Ahmed and the association have their shop in the heart of the Old City of Chefchaouen.
