Meet Assiya
The Artist
Assiya collects the clay for her pottery at a particular place down by the river banks where the clay is clean and without rocks. She works hard to shape and mold dozens of bowls, plats, pitchers, vases and cups in a day. She has her own kiln and fires them all together. She works hard making this beautiful, natural pottery to take care of her elderly mother who lives with her.
The History
Assiya learned to make pottery on her own, and has been doing so as long as she can remember. It seems now that everyone benefits from her skills.
